Top-level Pharmacy and an Increasingly International Outlook

Cosmofarma Exhibition confirms itself as the leading appointment in the pharmacy industry with its 15th edition. In Italy and in Europe.

Organized by SoGeCos spa, a 100% subsidiary of the BolognaFiere Group, the exhibition is a unique and important moment of comparison between the market and the institutions, the firms and the pharmacies. The recently concluded edition was held at the BolognaFiere Fairground, a pole recognized for its organizational ability in the health and wellness industry.

The numbers, all of them and without distinction, are on the rise with respect to the previous edition in Bologna (Cosmofarma Exhibition is present on alternating years in Bologna and Rome):

Total visitors 20.874 i.e. + 19,6% on the 17.459 attendees of the previous Bologna edition.

+ 32,7% the foreign attendance; + 7,6 % the Italian attendance.

Online credited visitors on the Cosmofarma website were 16,4% on the total attendance which is striking and impressive data as well as an index of great attention towards the Exhibition.

520 Italian and International exhibitors (+ 1,5% on the 2010 Roman edition), which showcased all the industry innovations on an exhibition area of 33 thousand square meters (+ 9% on the previous Roman edition). Halls 25, 26 and 36 of the Bologna Fairground hosted all of the product categories from the pharmacy world, divided into the traditional macro-sectors: pharmaceutical and parapharmaceutical, health, phytotherapic, dermo-cosmetic, natural and organic, food-dietetic and services both “at” and “for” the pharmacy.

“Despite the political Sunday dedicated to local council elections, we passed all attendance expectations, which halted around 8%, while passing it with an excellent result.” Aureliana De Sanctis, Sole Director of Cosmofarma Srl noted, “This is because pharmacy is and is to become an increasingly important reference point, an active partner for consumers who consider the concept of prevention, health, and wellness with attention and improved awareness and wherever the Health Service cannot help, the pharmacist is there to be the privileged advisor for professionalism and reliability.

The development of business and the high-quality attendance resulted to be crucial for enterprises, while the modernization of the show’s contents as well as its progressively international appeal were the real innovative characteristics of this edition. And as our outlook is already and inevitably for abroad we are considering the possibility of exporting such format”.

“In a period when several economic sectors go through some crisis, pharmacists reacted enthusiastically and sound attendance at Cosmofarma Exhibition, which is their main occasion to come in touch with the industry’s innovations” Andrea Mandelli, the President of the Italian Pharmacists Federation declared “This is also evidence of the interest in the work the Italian Pharmacists Federation performs and in the Service Pharmacy project which aims at transforming the pharmaceutical space into a multifunctional service center”.

“Cosmofarma Exhibition has always confirmed itself to be an important appointment for the Italian pharmacy. However, this year it proved to be up to the training and information expectations of pharmacists even more than preceding editions” the recently re- confirmed President of Federfarma (National Federation of Italian Pharmacy Owners) Annarosa Racca stated: “Federfarma has joined many conventions focused on that, while certifying the conviction of giving more and more tools to pharmacists to consider the work both done and to be planned for the future”.

The Bologna location is of course the seat of the Group Manager, BolognaFiere S.p.A., all along a national and international symbol of sound expertise in fair organization as well as of organizational efficiency, recognized as a leader in professionalism, reliability, and credibility that attests its supremacy of international exception in the sphere of “beauty wellness and health” events. The company also confirms to be a reference pole even in the “prevention and health” sector thanks to such winning shows as Cosmofarma Exhibition, recently finished, Pharmintech, a showcase of technology, machinery and solutions for the drug industry and Expobenessere, the show dedicated to consumers that will be held in Milan and Rome in addition to Bologna. Its concepts extend from health to wellness and prevention and the first exhibition is planned early in 2012.

Unquestionably, the supremacy in the cosmetics and wellness areas is defended with as many as 5 international-ranked annual appointments: BEAUTY EURASIA POWERED BY COSMOPROF in ISTANBUL ‐ TURKEY (from 16 to 18 JUNE 2011), COSMOPROF NORTH AMERICA in LAS VEGAS – USA (from 31 JULY to 2 AUGUST 2011). In Fall, GUANGZHOU INTERNATIONAL BEAUTY EXPO in GUANGZHOU – CHINA (from 19‐21 SEPTEMBER 2011) and COSMOPROF ASIA HONG KONG (9‐11 NOVEMBER 2011) to then arrive to the next, much awaited COSMOPROF WORLDWIDE BOLOGNA planned for 9‐12 March 2012. A new project called “Urban Cosmoprof” is being studied, which envisages involving the entire city of Bologna.

Two newly acquired exhibitions are also worth noting: Esthetiworld (Milan, 22‐24 October) and IoSposa (first Milanese edition from 11 to 13 November next to be followed by Bologna and Rome as hosting destinations ).
